Quality Home Builder’s was founded in 1986. We built primarily new homes until 2001.
Starting in 2002 we started to focus on custom finish jobs. The jobs ranged from custom hardwood floors to custom moldings. We started to do carving and woodworking in Michiganand now have the capability to do custom turnings. Starting in 2006 we started to do restoration and reproduction work.
We believe in keeping homes as historically correct as possible. We also recognize the advancements in building technology as well as modern building codes. We blend all of these conditions, giving the customer the best quality. An example of this would be windows. Historical windows have little energy efficiency and tend to be painted shut. We can restore any loose or failed joinery, reset and repair the glass and then paint the sashes. We then retro fit the sashes with modern weather-stripping. We can repair or build storm windows and screens, if historically correct, and fit them with modern weather-stripping. All the hardware is researched to be period appropriate. This process allows a historical window to be close in efficiency to a modern window, while keeping the original look. We can do this process with other facets of an existing home or to an addition of a historical home.
In all of our projects – from Michigan cabinets to our hardwood floors in Michigan, we strive to keep the same historical correctness in our restorations and remodels. We have the services of a historical preservationist with a master’s degree available to our customers. This enables us to trace the history of any particular home and recreate it as close to original as possible or make alterations that would still be period correct.
